Latest Find: Brass Finger Ring

Possibly Roman but more likely a Medieval ring..

While on a historical survey last week Yvonne unearthed what looks to be brass finger ring which is possibly medieval (or even older).

Even if it is medieval it will be the earliest find to date from this site.

Sadly it was in two pieces when it was brought to the surface. Once we have consulted with the Finds Liaison Officer (FLO) at the Museum of London Archeology (MOLA) we’ll post more information.

Latest Find: Crotal Bell

Crotal bells an important part of early farming when, historically, often animals were left to graze on common or open land. They were also used on horse drawn carriages so they could heard by others traveling along lanes and roads. Here are two examples Yvonne found in one day. One has been damaged (probably by a plow or mower) but the other is complete and still rings nicely.
